He had already committed to a full mouth reconstruction. Sitting in the waiting room, he mentioned that what he had really wanted, months earlier, was to see what his smile could look like before he ever spoke to anyone about it. He never asked. Almost nobody does.
Spend any time around a cosmetic practice and you notice the same thing. The clinical work is excellent. The marketing is where the patients disappear. Calls ring out after five. Someone browses the site for twenty minutes and leaves no trace. A person who genuinely wants veneers cannot picture what they would look like, so they file it under someday and never come back.
None of that shows up anywhere. There is no report that tells you how many people almost became patients. That invisibility is exactly why practices keep tolerating it, and it is the problem SmileFirst was built for.
Someone uploads one photo of their smile. AI generates a realistic preview of that same face after whitening, veneers, or a full mouth rehab. Only the mouth region is altered, so the rest of the photo stays exactly as they took it, and an automatic review pass catches results that come out distorted and tries again. It aims for natural rather than dramatic, because a preview the dentist cannot actually deliver is worse than no preview at all.
To see it, they give you a name and an email. From there the practice can reply through a patient portal, including with a short recorded video about their specific smile. That is the consultation, and it happens before anyone has taken an afternoon off work. Meanwhile the AI front desk agent answers the calls your team cannot, and the same agent sits on your website answering questions and catching people mid browse.
Showing someone a picture of their future face is a powerful thing to do, and the temptation to oversell it is constant. Every preview is labelled as illustrative rather than a treatment plan or a guarantee, and your own disclaimer travels with it. We do not currently offer a BAA and we do not describe ourselves as HIPAA compliant, because we have not done that work and saying otherwise would be worse than saying nothing. We publish what the product does today, not what is on the roadmap.
The image generation runs on Google Gemini and the conversational agents run on Anthropic Claude. We would rather tell you that than imply it is all our own invention.
They see a real preview before anyone asks them for anything beyond a name. If the only thing waiting on the other side of a form is a sales call, the trade is not fair and people learn that quickly.
Your logo, your colors, your link, your disclaimer, your voice in the chat agent. Patients should experience all of this as part of your practice, because that is exactly what it is.
Our comparison pages tell you when to buy something else. Our limitations sit on the homepage rather than buried in a terms document. This is a long game and credibility is the whole asset.
Previews aim for a natural result. Overselling the image sets up a conversation the dentist then has to walk back in the chair, and that costs the practice more than the lead was worth.
If there is something about compliance, accuracy, or fit that would stop you signing up, we would rather answer it now than have you find out in month two.
